INTRODUCTION TO THE 18TH MATRIARCH SUN

Matriarch Sun, whose first name Suzhen, was also known as Sun, Huiming. She was the incarnation of Yuehui Bodhisattva and became Zhonghua Holy Mother after her passing. She was born on the 28th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar in 1895 in Shan County, Shandong Province, China.

Matriarch Sun dedicated her life to the propagation of Tao and was a celibate cultivator who never married. She had great compassion for all living beings, and had made great sacrifices to help others. After Matriarch Sun received Tao, she diligently cultivated herself.

In 1930, God mandated Patriarch Zhang to be the 18th Patriarch and Matriarch Sun to be the 18th Matriarch. They concurrently received the Divine Authority to propagate Tao and to continue the Lineage of Tao. They received the Divine Authority in the name of husband and wife without being actually married. This nominal union signifies the equality between the genders and allows both men and women to receive the Tao, to cultivate the Tao, and to propagate the Tao.

After Patriarch Zhang passed away in 1947, Matriarch Sun continued the mission of saving the living beings of the Three Realms. In 1949, Matriarch Sun went to Hong Kong because of the communist takeover of mainland China. She then moved to Taiwan in 1954 and lived in seclusion. Around that time, many of the Tao disciples encountered difficulties in the propagation of Tao. Hence Matriarch Sun vowed to help these disciples by confining herself to a small room in hope of propagation of Tao with less difficulties and obstacles. Her virtue and sincerity indeed helped those disciples, as the Great Tao was spread to all of Taiwan and now all over the world.

Matriarch Sun passed away at the age of 81 on the 23rd day of the second month of the Chinese lunar calendar in 1975. God bestowed upon her the title "Zhonghua Holy Mother" after her passing. Her great virtue and compassion are remembered by Tao disciples all over the world.
