It is of utmost importance that all Tao Members are familiar with this statement. Although short in length, The Purpose of Tao contains profound philosophical concepts and practical human proprieties. The main objective for our discussion is to reach a general consensus on the English translation of this statement. Over the past few years, numerous English versions of this statement have come into existence. It is a tremendously difficult task for everyone to agree on "the perfect translation." Nevertheless, we will first seek to understand the concepts of the statement and then focus on discussing and selecting the right English words for ranslation purposes.
