Sunday, a beautiful day was in the offing. The blue sky invited the birds to frolic in it, the clouds streaming by leaving their calling cards along the way. The weather was perfect and the company was extraordinary. That was how the day started at Descanso Gardens. The first thing was to have a potluck lunch. Everyone brought delicious food, so much that most people had to take home some. That's OK because we can then sample each other's goodies. Pictures were taken and everyone enjoyed each other's company. Peter and Grace, again, went all out to have this outing a success and it was just that.

After lunch, we all paraded to the entrance of the gardens and started our tour. I played tour guide for the day. I have spent a lot of time in the gardens photographing the flora and

Say Cheese!

fauna so I've come with a lot of experience. The first place we visited was just inside the entrance. It was an outside rotunda just filled with Iceland Poppies of various shades of pink, yellow, orange and red. Venturing along the pavement, we saw various species of tulips all growing tall and beautiful. There were the standard varieties of tulips and the special varieties that had frilled edges on them. They looked like upside-down ballroom gowns, full and delicate, and extremely colorful.

The next point of the tour was the duck pond, but before that, we had a group picture taken by myself. It was unfortunate that the pond's water level was so low. However, the fish and turtles were showing off their colors and swimming talents to us so it was not a wasted trip. Even though this is a duck pond, there were no
